Our Broadway Performance Academy was formed by Heather O'Hara, owner of Broadway Dance & Fitness in December '07. This company was previously called the Broadway Dance Company and has been competing since 2002. The Broadway Performance Academy is comprised of 7 competing companies, Junior Demi Co. & Junior Elite Co. (Ages 7 & up),Demi Co. & Teen Elite Co. (Ages 10 & up), Senior Demi Co. (Ages 14 & up) & Senior Elite Co. (Ages 12 & up) & our NEW Kick Co. (Ages 12 & up). Students are accepted into our Dance Competition Company by audition only. We began competing in 2002 and have won numerous outstanding and overall awards. Heather O'Hara (Director), has also taken home best choreography awards for her outstanding choreography. Not only do we compete at regional and national levels, but also attend dance conventions and perform locally and nationally as well. Broadway's Dance company has performed in Macy's Day parade, Dallas Cowboy Halftime Show, Dallas Cowboy Thanksgiving Day Halftime show with Kelly Clarkson, Harley Davidson Fashion show, Trail of Lights at Zilker Park, Lakeway Tree Lighting and many more. Many of her company members have been accepted to attend the Radio City Rockette Intensives and participated in the Rockette Intensive at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. In 2007 the Broadway Dance Competition company brought home the Starlight Regional Grand Champion Award!
Our Mission
Broadway's main goal is to provide a higher level of technique as well as an increase in their performance experience. Not only does this give them a more competitive edge but also instills a more structured and dedicated program. Our members gain a more knowledgable vocabulary as well as a more confident performance. Elite members are required to attend a minimum of 3 ballet classes, 2 jazz class, tap, lyrical and team company rehearsals weekly. Demi members are required to attend 1 ballet class, 1 turns & progressions and 1 jazz class weekly and 2 weekend rehearsals a month.
Those interested in choosing dance as a career this is the program for you! Heather was a professional dancer for 10 years and is highly familiar with this industry.
Fun!
It's not all work and no play. We relax by having regularly scheduled pizza parties, yearly secret santa party, Big Sis/Lil Sis, Halloween party, end of season parties and many more. This enables the students to get to know each other better, relax and have fun.
